NFW14 – The Vintage Show
The second main show of Norwich Fashion Week 2014 saw fashion go theatrical with some of the best vintage fashions and vintage inspired designs being showcased in the historical setting of The Puppet Theatre. An unusual setting for a fashion show perhaps, but this wasn’t your typical show. Vintage is big in Norwich, so we knew we needed to pull something of a fashion experience out of the bag.
The hair and makeup team from the Jackie Hamilton School of Beauty received their styling brief several weeks a go and came armed with kits packed full of pink lipstick, white mascara and lots of hair padding…..The theme was vintage avant garde with more than a sprinkle of inspiration from two leading ladies in the history of fashion, Marie Antoinette and Vivienne Westwood.
The Vintage Show 2014 was the biggest celebration of vintage in Norwich yet, with more designers than ever before joining the show with creations based on 18th century styles of headwear and hair trends. Vintage is all about fashion and history and this show took these two elements to a new exciting level and showcased that Norwich has one of the most creative and adventurous vintage scenes in the country.
The show closed with a shimmy and a bang from Natalya Umanska followed by an after party. Amongst the fast flowing cocktails, music and chocolate ticket holders for this sell out show were treated to a lipstick bar and a pop up photo booth.
